In Person Camp FAQ’S

After a successful in-person camp in 2022, we are excited to be planning for in-person camp again this summer. 

The Covid-19 vaccination will not be required for camp participants this year; however, we recommend that all participants be fully vaccinated and have received the recommended boosters prior to the start of camp. The CDC defines fully vaccinated as 2 weeks after the second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.

In addition to the typical items that you may pack for camp, we ask that you also pack well-fitting masks throughout the week should they be needed. We also request, to the extent practical, you limit contact with others and maskless indoor activities a week prior to camp. Finally, we request that you have a plan for a ride home from camp should you test positive.

 Horizon Camp will follow local, state and facility guidelines. Should the Covid-19 pandemic change, we may change the requirements.

Yes. We will again test all participants for Covid-19 either upon arrival at Timber Pointe or prior to boarding a Horizon organized bus.

Many people continue to test positive for Covid-19, with both rapid and PCR tests, for weeks or even months after infection. However, these repeat positive test results do not indicate the person is still contagious. Evidence supports the recommendations of the CDC, the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Chicago Department of Public Health, who all state that people who have had mild to moderate COVID-19 illness can leave isolation after testing positive if the following are true: 1) 10 days after their symptoms started and their symptoms are improving or 10 days after a positive COVID-19 test result if they did not have symptoms AND 2) There is no fever in the past 24 hours and the person has not taken fever-reducing medicine during the past 24 hours.
If you have tested positive for Covid-19 within two months prior to camp, and you believe this infection will result in a positive rapid test upon your arrival at Timber Pointe, you must obtain a letter from your primary care physician to be considered by the Pandemic Safety Committee. This letter must state the date you first tested positive for Covid, the date of your last symptoms, and your doctor’s medical opinion that you are no longer actively contagious.
